Scout Vesper

Tune: O Tannenbaum

Softly falls the light of day,
While our campfire fades away.
Silently each scout should ask,
"Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done and have I dared
In everything to be prepared.?"

Listen Lord, oh listen Lord,
As I whisper soft and low,
Bless my Mom and bless my Dad,
There is something they should know.
I have kept my honor bright.
The Oath and Law has been my guide.
Mom and Dad, this you should know,
Deep in my heart I love you so.

Scout Vesper - Alternate Version

Note: This is a lighthearted camp parody written well before the July 2025 Central Texas flooding, in the long tradition of Scout camp humor. We recognize that themes of rain and flooding may feel painful in light of that tragedy, and we honor the memory of all those affected.

Softly falls the rain today
As our campsite floats away,
Silently each Scout should ask,
"Have I brought my scuba mask?
Have I tied my tent flaps down,
Learned to swim so I don't drown,
Have I done and will I try,
Everything to keep me dry?"
